Compliance Alert – Changes to Reduced VAT Rates

On June 3, 2025, the Lithuanian Parliament passed an amendment to the VAT law, introducing a reduced VAT rate of 12%, while abolishing the current reduced rate of 9%. Following the changes, two reduced rates will apply to VAT, 5% and 12%.

Compliance Alert –Essential amendments to the VAT law

In 2025, the Lithuanian Parliament adopted two major amendments to the VAT Law No. IX-751, introducing significant changes to e-invoicing, digital compliance, and VAT rates. The reforms take effect in two phases: from May 1, 2025 , for digital and administrative provisions, and from January 1, 2026 , for VAT rate adjustments and transitional rules.

NBFC adds a phased transition timeline to the new SABIS portal

NBFC announced a two-month phased transition period for the migration to the SABIS portal between 1 July and 31 August 2024, changing the previous statement of no transition. Additionally, all invoices based on verbal contracts, regardless of their amount, should be submitted to the SABIS portal from 1 January 2025.
